JPEG €360 million : This is the amount France is contributing to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in2014, 2015 and 2016. France has pledged €1.08 billion over the next three years.

From the outset, France has strongly supported research on AIDS and access to treatment for patients from poor countries.It has paid more than €2.5 billion to the Global Fund since it was set up in 2002, to finance AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria prevention and treatment programmes in developing countries.

France is the second-largest contributor in the world and the leading European donor

It has helped supply AIDS treatments to 4.2 million people and anti-tuberculosis treatments to 9.7 million people, and helped distribute over 310 million insecticide-treated mosquito nets to fight malaria.

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and UNITAID, the international drug purchase facility, were created on its initiative.
